The Hegau Museum in Singen offers a fascinating insight into the lives of the people who settled in the Hegau region from the end of the last ice age around 16,000 years ago until the castle era. In a total of 11 themed rooms, visitors can learn how the region's settlement and cultural history developed and how important archaeological finds are for understanding the early history of Baden-Württemberg.
Numerous interactive stations invite children, families, and adults to experience archaeology with all their senses. From excavating and viewing original finds to interactive learning, the exhibition brings history to life in a practical way. Thanks to its interactive design, the Hegau Museum is ideal for school classes, family outings, or tourists interested in culture.
The museum's roots date back to 1925, when Albert Funk, a pharmacist from Singen, began preserving the archaeological heritage of his hometown. His excavations and collections yielded many sensational finds, which found their place in the exhibition rooms of Singen Castle in 1951. Since then, the museum has continuously gained in importance thanks to generous funding from the state and is now one of the most attractive exhibitions on prehistory and early history in Baden-Württemberg.
The rooms of the Hegau Museum are located on the first floor of the castle. Unfortunately, they are not yet wheelchair accessible, but the city of Singen is working to ensure accessibility in the near future. Admission to the Hegau Museum is free.
Whether you are interested in archaeology, regional history, or family activities in Singen, the Hegau Museum offers exciting insights, interactive experiences, and historical highlights in the heart of the charming old town.
