Richard Dilger (1887- 1973), born in Überlingen, attended the art academy in Karlsruhe. He opened a studio there after the First World War. In 1942 he settled in Allensbach. His preferred motifs are Allensbach and the lake. In his large-format paintings in the style of “Karlsruhe landscape painting”, he depicts the world as he perceives it “as a threatening, gloomy force that reveals a greater order in sensibly held tension”.
