Not only is the Hohentwiel an unmistakable landmark, it is also a paradise for rare animal and plant species. Shaped by volcanic activity and ice ages, it is now a nature reserve. This tour takes you through flower-rich grasslands and steep vineyards, past small lava bombs and rugged rock faces, offering you the chance to experience the area's fascinating natural and cultural history up close.
In addition to the information boards along the route, the free Lauschtour app provides supplementary information. Geologist Matthias Geyer, nature conservation warden Heinrich Werner, and former local estate manager Hubertus Both describe the flora and fauna, providing insight into the volcanic past of the Hegau region.
