For two years, Singen artist Gero Hellmuth realized his lifelong dream of creating a lasting monument to Singen's carnival figures. In 2010, the time had finally come: the Fools' Fountain was officially unveiled.
Seven almost life-size bronze figures of the town's carnival, or “Fasnet” as it is known in Singen, are depicted here.
The most famous is the ghost sitting on the pillar in the middle, the so-called “Poppele”. The fountain has caused a lot of discussion among the Singen carnival guilds, as it only depicts the figures of the Singen Poppele guild. The other clubs and groups therefore later added the “Forgotten Fool”, which bears their symbols. It is not on the fountain but on the wall of the house next to it.
