In the 14th century, a maiden from Reichenau is said to have been murdered here. In 1374, monks built a chapel to commemorate the terrible deed, which became part of an Augustinian convent and the destination of many pilgrims. The convent was dissolved in 1809 and the buildings demolished. Today, items from the former monastery church adorn the village chapel in Hegne and the parish church of St. Verena in Dettingen.
