Galgenberg Landscape Conservation Area
The Galgenberg landscape conservation area near Bohlingen is characterised by meadows, orchards and vineyards. The Panoramaweg trail and the ‘Blattform’ offer sweeping views of Bohlingen, the Schienerberg, the Hegauberge and the Untersee.
To the north of the Singen district of Bohlingen lies the Galgenberg landscape conservation area. The hill forms part of the varied cultural landscape between Hegau and the western shores of Lake Constance and is characterised, amongst other things, by meadows, orchard meadows, copses and vineyards. Meadows, pastures and orchards in particular are among the key habitats of the Singen biotope network. At the same time, the Galgenberg is a highly valued recreational area. The Bohlingen Panoramic Trail, approximately three kilometres long, winds its way through the countryside surrounding the hill and offers a succession of beautiful views. A particular highlight is the ‘Blattform’ viewing platform at the summit of the Galgenberg. From there, the view stretches across Bohlingen and the Aachried to the Schienerberg and Untersee, as well as to the striking volcanic hills of the Hegau region. The landscape conservation area thus combines the preservation of a distinctive cultural landscape with attractive opportunities for walks, hikes and nature observation.
