Mögginger Backhüsle e. V.
The Mögginger Backhüsle e.V. promotes traditional baking culture and community spirit. In the bakehouse in Mögginger Park, bread is baked in a wood-fired oven - a gathering place for conversation, tradition, and shared experiences.
Since its founding in 2011, the Mögginger Backhüsle e.V. association has been dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional baking culture, as well as organizing community activities centered around historic wood-fired baking.
At the heart of the association’s work is the Backhüsle in Mögginger Park. The bakehouse was inaugurated in 2012 and is located in the immediate vicinity of the church, the von und zu Bodman family burial chapel, the pond, and the town hall. Covering an area of approximately 7 x 5 meters, it houses a traditional wood-fired oven, which was delivered as a kit and subsequently assembled and completed collaboratively by association members and supporters.
The architectural design is based on the construction style of a Valaisan log cabin. The design is by Hans Thoma. The building is constructed entirely of wood and features a green roof that blends harmoniously into the surroundings. The wooden structure was custom-built and erected by the Leiz carpentry shop.
During the heating and baking times, the Backhüsle invites visitors to linger. Folding benches provide seating for visitors and are stowed away in the bakehouse after use.
The Backhüsle is thus not only a place for baking, but also a gathering spot for shared experiences, exchange, and the preservation of regional traditions.
