Schloßberg Friedingen Landscape Conservation Area
The Schloßberg Friedingen Landscape Conservation Area combines woodland, meadows and the historic Hohenfriedingen Castle. From the Schloßberg, there are beautiful views across the varied landscape of the Hegau region as far as Lake Constance
To the east of the Singen district of Friedingen lies the Schloßberg Friedingen landscape conservation area. At its heart is the striking Friedinger Schlossberg, home to Hohenfriedingen Castle, better known as the Friedinger Schlössle. Unlike the well-known volcanic hills of the Hegau region, the Schlossberg is not of volcanic origin: its summit consists of durable Nagelfluh rock, whilst molasse sandstone is found in the area around the castle courtyard. Woodland, meadows and agricultural land form a varied cultural landscape around the hill. The medieval castle is a landmark of Friedingen visible from afar and a popular destination for walks and hikes. From the Schlossberg, there are delightful views across the Hegau countryside and as far as Lake Constance. The landscape conservation area helps to preserve the scenic character of this special area around Friedingen in the long term.
