St. Joseph's Church
The Church of St. Joseph at Hohentwiel in Singen is the center of the parish of the same name. Founded in 1928, it is dedicated to St. Joseph, patron saint of workers, and is home to the Croatian Mission.
The parish of St. Josef was established in 1928 in the newly built district of Hohentwiel to meet the growing needs of the local population for their own parish. The patronage of St. Josef, known as the patron saint of workers, reflects the close connection between the church and the labor movement of the time. Today, the parish has around 2,200 members and offers a wide range of church services, pastoral care, and community events.
A special feature of St. Josef is the Croatian Mission, which celebrates Holy Mass in the national language on Sundays, thus providing a spiritual home for the Croatian community in Singen. In addition, the parish maintains a long-standing partnership with the community of San Lorenzo in Arequipa, Peru, through which social projects and cultural exchange are promoted.
Architecturally, the church is simple and functional, typical of the style of 1920s ecclesiastical architecture. It combines historical tradition with a vibrant present, in which religious life, cultural offerings, and the social commitment of the community intertwine. Visitors will find not only a place of worship, but also a meeting place for community and encounter. Its location on Hohentwiel also provides a direct connection to nature and the urban environment, giving St. Josef Church a central role both spiritually and in the neighborhood.
