Many bicycle and hiking trails lead through the magnificent landscape of the Hegau up to Lake Constance, past mysterious sandstone caves and 1000 legendary springs. Famous, especially for its carnival, Stockach is a town deeply rooted in tradition and history. The historical old town invites any visitor to stay and discover. Buildings steeped in history are illuminated from all sides during a city tour and will amaze every visitor.
But every stay should not be missed out with an excellent gastronomy and hotellery. With the classical master concert series as well as the cabaret series and the lively club life Stockach always has something to offer, be it a concert, a cabaret or the famous city festival "Schweizer Feiertag".
There is something on offer all year round. Above all, however, the Zizenhausen terracottas, which are exhibited in the town museum and in the castle of Zizenhausen, form a valuable part of the cultural life in Stockach. The colorful small sculptures were made in the first generation by the Upper Swabian artist Anton Sohn (1769-1841) in the Zizenhausen district. The knowledge of the production of the figures was passed on within the family. The last manufacturer was the great-great grandson of Anton Sohn, Otto Müller. Anton Sohn produced his colorful small sculptures after different models. By using models (embossing molds) the figures could be produced and multiplied even after his death. These model figures were painted and deliberately not varnished so that they still look as if they had just been created. The city of Stockach can proudly look back on a stock of almost 1040 model as well as 540 sample figures. The terracottas are very popular with collectors all over the world. The most famous figures are the 42 groups of figures on the theme "Totentanz von Basel".
The Stockach vacation program with about 160 events for young and old is also an enrichment during the summer months. So a detour or a vacation in Stockach is really worthwhile.
