Wegbeschreibung
This hike starts at the car park by the hall in Friedingen (452 m). From there, walk along Hausener Straße and turn left onto Beurener Straße. At the next junction, turn right onto Friedhofstraße to leave the village. Cross the motorway and turn left onto the second dirt track leading into the forest. Stay on this path until you reach the edge of the forest, then turn right onto a meadow path. At the next junction, turn left, then right and left again. This path will lead you to the K6121, which you must follow for a short distance. At the bend in the road, go straight ahead into the forest and bear right. En route to Steißlingen, you will enjoy wonderful views of the Hegau mountains. This path will then lead you to Wiechs (466 m), where you can visit Wiechs Castle and the church. Follow the main road to the left, passing the golf course, until you reach the turning to Schoren. Turn right there. Turn right onto a dirt track in the centre of the village. Follow this until you reach the L223. Turn left onto the L223 and walk a short distance before crossing the road. Danger zone!
Turn right, then left uphill into the forest. Continue straight ahead through the forest until you reach a wide forest path and turn right. This path will lead you to the car park for hikers with a barbecue area. From there, a path leads down to the village of Steißlingen (457 m). Walk along Lange Straße towards the village until you reach Schlossstraße. Turn right here to arrive at Steißlingen Castle and the church. Continue along Kirchstraße until you reach Lange Straße. Turn right there and then left into Singenerstraße. Turn right onto Poststraße, then left onto Seeweg. After a short distance, you will arrive at the forest. After a sharp bend in the path, bear left, then right again. Follow the wide gravel path until you reach the B33. After passing under the bridge, continue straight ahead. At the next junction, turn left, then right, and continue straight ahead across the crossing path. You will reach Friedingen Castle (543 m) via the castle courtyard. Unlike the other Hegau mountains, Friedingen Castle Hill is not of volcanic origin. The hilltop is made up of hard Nagelfluh rock, which is a mixture of pebbles and stones baked together with sand. Below the castle courtyard, the subsoil consists of molasse sandstone. After stopping for refreshments and a tour, take Schlossbergstraße back down to the village. Turn right onto Buchbergstraße, then left onto Hausenerstraße, to return to your starting point.
