Wegebeschaffenheit
Take a guided tour of Stockach or Radolfzell, discover Langenstein Castle and Friedinger Schlössle, or treat yourself to a swim in Lake Steißlingen. Hegau is one of the regions in Germany with the most castles. Its volcanic landscape, not far from Lake Constance, made it an ideal location for building castles on volcanic mountains in the Middle Ages. The numerous castle ruins that remain today bear witness to the region's eventful history. The people of Hegau suffered greatly from the power struggles of their rulers. The land was plundered and repeatedly destroyed during battles and raids, either completely or partially.

Wegbeschreibung
From the Orsingen campsite, head towards the roundabout and turn right through the village. Leave Orsingen and continue towards Reiterstüble/Stockfelderhof. Pass these and then part of the Langenstein Castle golf course. Cross Wiechs and take the cycle path to Steißlingen, which starts at the end of the village. After the cemetery, turn right to reach Lake Steißlingen. From there, take the quiet, narrow road via Maiershöfe to the next village, Friedingen. En route, you will enjoy magnificent views of several volcanic mountains topped with castles: Hohentwiel, Hohenkrähen, Mägdeberg, Hohenstoffeln and Hohenhewen.
In Friedingen, it is worth making a detour to visit the 'Friedinger Schlössle', a castle built in the second half of the 12th century. The local restaurant is the perfect place to take a break and recharge your batteries. Make sure you check the opening hours before you tackle the climb! Incidentally, the Friedinger Schlössle is Hegau's only well-preserved hilltop castle, standing at 515 metres above sea level.
A beautiful stretch of forest leads to a cycle path alongside the B34. Follow this to Böhringen. In the village centre, turn right and cycle through the open countryside, where you may catch a glimpse of the occasional stork, on your way to Radolfzell. Here, we recommend taking a detour to visit the old town and/or Lake Constance.
Leave the town through a wooded area towards Stahringen. Above the village are the ruins of Homburg Castle. We also recommend taking a detour up to the castle ruins. The climb is rewarded with unique views of Lake Constance. Next stop: Wahlwies. From there, the route continues alongside the Stockacher Aach, passing through orchards on the way to Stockach. Stockach is renowned far beyond the borders of the Hegau region for its Fool's Court. We also recommend taking a detour to the old town here.
Continue past the railway station and over the roundabout towards the Stockach district of Hindelwangen. Leave the district via the cycle path towards Windegg. Shortly after leaving the village, turn left towards Mahlspüren. After a short ride, the road leads into the forest. Hidden on the hill there are the ruins of Nellenburg Castle, which now only consist of a few remaining walls. The connecting road takes you almost exclusively downhill to Nenzingen. Follow the cycle path out of the village towards Orsingen, and you will soon reach the starting point of the cycle tour: the campsite.
