Swabian Alb Cycle Route - Stage 8: Tuttlingen to Bodman-Ludwigshafen
Mittel
The last stage of the Swabian Alb Cycle Route has it all: with the Danube seepage in Immendingen, cyclists encounter a mysterious natural phenomenon that causes one of Europe's largest rivers to simply disappear. But this does not mean that the Danube has disappeared. On the contrary: it reappears in the green-blue Aachtopf, known as the country's most water-rich spring. The nearby historic old town of Aach, perched on a steep mountain cone with town fortifications, is definitely worth a visit. Speaking of cones, the region is also home to the Hegau volcanoes with nine long-extinct witnesses of seething geological history. Finally, Lake Constance - and with it the destination of the long-distance cycle route - comes into view.
