Wegbeschreibung
The route is marked by a white wave on a blue background. It starts at the railway station in the Mühlhausen district of Ehingen. From there, we cycle left, following the railway line, until we reach the level crossing by the sports field. Here, we turn left. We then follow the local road to Aach (5 km) and the source of the Aach. Given the Aach's strong flow (averaging 9,000 litres per second), it is not surprising that a mill was built right on the edge of the spring. This mill is no longer operational, but its weir, canal and old millstones can still be recognised.
The Aachtopf is the actual starting point of our tour. Following the same route in reverse, we head westwards downstream to Mühlhauser Straße.Our route continues along country lanes towards Volkertshausen. Shortly before the new development area in Volkertshausen, we turn left onto a gravel path by an orchard and a farmhouse. After a short, steep descent, we reach the Aach-Volkertshausen road. We cross this road at a pedestrian crossing and cycle along the parallel cycle path towards Volkertshausen.
We soon turn right onto Wiesenstraße, which takes us back out into the open countryside. Here, the valley widens to form the Weitenried basin. We cross the Aach River via a field bridge and cycle downstream along the right-hand bank to the Hegau-Stockach motorway junction. Our route then leads right along the foot of the motorway to the Volkertshausen–Beuren local road.
We now ride along the cycle path parallel to the country road for about 800 metres down the valley. We then cross the country road (L 189a) and continue along the asphalt path to Beuren an der Aach (Aacherweg). We then cross the Aach on the bridge in the centre of the village. On the left side of the river, we continue downstream on the cycle path. After around 500 metres, we cross the Aach again via a bridge (the connecting road between Beuren and Friedingen) and follow the river on the right.
After approximately 1.5 km, Hausen an der Aach will appear on the right. Approximately 1 km south of Hausen, we cross the Aach via the Hausen-Remishof bridge, after which we cycle downhill on the left-hand side of the river. We soon reach the entrance to Singen, riding under the Hohenkrähen bridge alongside mighty weeping willows in the urban area downstream. After passing allotments and another weir, we reach Schlachthausstraße. We follow it to the railway underpass, then turn left back to the Aach. We then follow the Aach downstream on the western side.
We continue our comfortable ride alongside the Aach towards Rielasingen. There, we cross the main road via the pedestrian crossing. Shortly afterwards, the Aach bends gently from south to east towards Lake Constance. We then continue via Arlen to Worblingen. After passing the outdoor swimming pool, we reach open fields again and continue on to Bohlingen. Our route then takes us back out of the village via Fabrikstraße and back to the Aach.
We follow the asphalt path to the hamlet of Ziegelhof, passing a garden centre along the way. Via Mühlweg, we soon reach Moos. It is worth making a detour to the marina there. Returning to Radolfzeller Straße, we turn right towards Radolfzell. We then cycle to the railway station, where we can catch the 'Seehas' back to the trail's starting point at Mühlhausen-Ehingen railway station.
