Wegebeschaffenheit
On June 25, 2017, the UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships 2017 took place in Singen. Follow in the footsteps of the world champions.
In contrast to the Alpine regions, there are no long climbs in Hegau, but many short ones. Along the way, you will pass stately knights' castles, bizarre rock formations and expansive river landscapes. You will be rewarded with magnificent views. The route can be ridden at a very sporty pace, but it is suitable for everyone - and you should take your time to enjoy the wonderful views anyway.
Autorentipp
A detour to the Hilzinger baroque church of Peter and Paul is well worthwhile. At kilometer 12 there is a nice barbecue area. Shortly afterwards, turn off to the Besenstüble Homboll. Please note the opening times (see further information and links). Another nice place to stop for refreshments is at kilometer 13.7. From the Laurentiushof you can enjoy a hearty snack and the magnificent view, which extends as far as the Alps in the distance.
Wegbeschreibung
The starting point of the tour is the Landesgartenschau parking lot, also known as “Festplatz Offwiese”. You leave the parking lot past the motorhome disposal station on the access road to the parking lot, cross Schaffhauserstraße and follow the small river Aach upstream. A little later, you leave this section and cross between Hohentwiel and Staufen, where the first ascent awaits. The route now climbs steadily through meadows and forests until you reach Duchtlingen. Here you ride along Tannenbühlstraße until you turn left into Hegaustraße. A few meters after crossing the L190, you are back on the long World Cup route, which has been shortened from almost 50 km to 31.5 km. The route now continues to Hilzingen, where a visit to the baroque church is particularly worthwhile. Here you cross the main road and continue via Dietlishof towards Heilsberg, the local mountain of the people of Gottmading. You now return to the highway via gravel and forest paths and through the Dellenhau, past the Singen forest cemetery back to the starting point in Singen.
