Wegebeschaffenheit
On June 25, 2017, the UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships 2017 took place in Singen. Follow in the footsteps of the world champions.
In contrast to the Alpine regions, there are no long climbs in Hegau, but many short ones. Along the way, you will pass stately knights' castles, bizarre rock formations and expansive river landscapes. You will be rewarded with magnificent views. The route can be ridden in a very sporty manner, but it is easily doable for everyone - and you should take your time to enjoy the wonderful views anyway.
Autorentipp
Visit the baroque church of Peter and Paul in Hilzing!
Stop off at the Besenstüble Homboll or Laurentiushof. Please note the opening hours!
Wegbeschreibung
The starting point of the tour is the Landesgartenschau parking lot, also known as “Festplatz Offwiese”. You leave the parking lot past the motorhome disposal station on the access road to the parking lot, cross Schaffhauserstraße and follow the small river Aach upstream. A little later, you leave this section and cross between Hohentwiel and Staufen, where the first ascent awaits. The route now climbs steadily through meadows and forests until you reach Duchtlingen.
Here you have the option of shortening the tour to 30 km by crossing the village and then following the signs for the short tour back onto the route.
For everyone else, the route continues in the direction of Hohenkrähen and Mägdeberg, with two more Hegau volcanoes close enough to touch to challenge the cyclist and provide magnificent views.
The halfway point is north of Weiterdingen. Now you head south again and have the impressive Hohenstoffeln as an intermediate destination. This basalt mountain is the only one of the Hegau volcanoes that has two peaks and lies almost like a camel in the Hegau. This is the highest point of the tour.
The route now continues via Hofgut Homboll and Laurentiusstüble down to Hilzingen, where a visit to the baroque church is particularly worthwhile. Here you cross under the main road and continue via Dietlishof to Heilsberg, the local mountain of the people of Gottmading. You now head back towards the highway via gravel and forest paths and through the
