Beschreibung
The Lake Constance Höri Peninsula is located between Radolfzell (DE) and Stein am Rhein (CH) on the Untersee. The village of Horn,at the tip of the peninsula points to the island of Reichenau and the Constance metropolis. The Höri rises 708 m above sea level with much of the wooded Schienerberg hillside under natural protection. Enjoy nature to the fullest on the 18 km-shoreline, the reed-fringed Hornspitze, unique nature reserves, water, meadows and forests and excellent trail network for hiking and biking.
This unique landscape has attracted and inspired numerous writers and painters such as Hermann Hesse, Otto Dix, Erich Heckel, Ludwig Finckh, Helmuth Macke and many others, hence the nickname: "artist landscape.”
Four Memorials to visit: the Hesse Museum Gaienhofen, the Mia and Hermann Hesse House, the Museum Haus Dix and the Jacob Picard Memorial.
The shallow waters and proximity of the Swiss shore make the Untersee an ideal bathing and water sports paradise. The best view of the "Höri" is from the lake: boats cruise to the island of Reichenau, Constance, Stein am Rhein, Schaffhausen and the Swiss side. The advantage of taking boats and ferries allows you to see more and get around the Untersee faster by foot or bike.
