Old Post office

Alte Post, Tegginger-/Schützenstraße 12, 78315 Radolfzell am Bodensee

Radolfzell had been connected to the main routes of the Upper Austrian rural postal service since the 18th century. A stagecoach and horse-riding post station of the Taxian Imperial Post was established in 1763.

In 1899, a new building was constructed for the Imperial Post Office at the corner of Tegginger- and Schützenstrasse. The emblems—the post horn, the carrier pigeon, and the Imperial Eagle—can still be seen on the exterior facade today. The ceiling in the current offices of the SÜDKURIER is adorned with a beautiful depiction of the Imperial Eagle.
